On 26 January 2020, I had a brief conversation with Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison during the official celebration of Australia Day in Canberra. In talking to the Prime Minister, I extended congratulations on the Government and the people of the Commonwealth of Australia on the occasion of Australia Day.
I also thanked the Prime Minister for the good work he is doing in bringing together the people of Australia as a united nation. I extended sympathies to the Government of Australia on the difficult experience arising from the devastating bush fires. At the same time I commended the Australian people for the show of unity and solidarity during this most challenging time of bush fires. I remarked at the manner in which the Australian people had joined forces to address the bush fire related challenges. The manner had shown the nationhood of Australia and the resilience of the Australian people during a difficult and challenging time.

Happy Australia Day to you all in the Commonwealth of Australia.
